"Most specialized expedition equipment comes home and lies dormant until the next trip - but not my Icebreaker. I find myself wearing the very same garments that have survived the rigors of expedition life in the arctic for 58 days straight, around Sydney day in, day out. It's warm, it's cool, it's light, it's fresh, it's soft, it's strong and it's styling - it's brilliant."
Chris Bray discovered Icebreaker when he wore it for 58 days straight during his world-first expedition on Victoria Island in 2005 with his mate Clark Carter. They each hauled and paddled their 250kg homemade wheeled kayaks across 300km of this largely unexplored island, as polar bears and arctic wolves looked on. As a member of The Explorers Club (www.explorers.org) and The Society for Human Performance in Extreme Environments, (www.HPEE.org), Chris understands the need for Icebreaker. "I always wear Icebreaker because unlike the weather, it's so dependable. It keeps me cool when it's hot, and warm when it's not – and months later, it still doesn't itch or even smell." Since then, Chris has worn Icebreaker on all his journeys, including sailing half way around the world across the Southern Ocean, and he certainly has Icebreaker packed for his return to the arctic in 2008 to continue the adventure for a further 100-days, unsupported.
