...We headed north-west to Botswana
where we shared a campsite with some hippopotamus. In
Zimbabwe, Kim took shots of the majestic Victoria Falls
as we sheltered her camera from torrential mist. A military
convoy escorted us through the Caprivi Strip, south of
the Angolan border.
Hours of spectacular scenery turned into days as we headed
south through the deserts, half buried ghost towns and
restricted diamond areas of Namibia. Jo was not expecting
the road ahead to be under construction. The 4WD rolled
3 times as it slowed from 100km/hr. We pondered our luck
as we retrieved camera and camping gear from the road.
Luckily the only serious injury was to our reputation.”
“The climates of the countries in the south of
Africa were diverse like its cultures and unpredictable
like its wildlife. I found my icebreaker was purpose built
for all the environments we visited. The garments layered
comfortably for protection from the cold winds of the
Atlantic Ocean, and a single item of clothing allowed
air to pass through while hiking over desert sands to
Deadvlei. The four of us each went to the countries in
the south of Africa for different reasons. The reasons
we all wear icebreaker are the same.”
