What is icebreaker nature dye?
Natural, renewable plant pigments are sourced from sustainable crops and applied with a non-toxic adherent in a cold-water process. The dyeing uses 65% less water than traditional methods.

True Indigo
Derived from Indigowoad. The leaves are chopped into a paste and fermented. Cultivated since the Stone Age, it is used for body paint, tattooing and fabric dying.
Almond
Sourced from Myrobalan, a tree that grows in mountainous regions in China and India. The tree produces plum-like, fleshy fruits with an outer peel rich in tannin.
True Indigo Light

Madder root
Sourced from dyer’s madder, or Rubia tinctorum, an herbaceous perennial related to coffee. The roots have been used since ancient times to dye leather, cotton, silk and wool.

Sourced from gallnuts - secretions produced by trees such as oaks, when the larvae of a small insect punctures the tree’s branches. The galls are high in tannic acid.
